Overview of GMO's

In Ghana, awareness about Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO's) and their potential effects is relatively low. Most citizens and even some farmers are not fully informed about the implications of using genetically modified seeds. This gap in knowledge can lead to widespread acceptance and use of GMOs without understanding the long-term consequences, such as environmental degradation, loss of biodiversity, and health risks.

Addressing the GMO Challenge

Farm Right Foundation was established to bridge this knowledge gap. The founders, through their interactions with local farmers, observed that many were using GMOs simply because they were readily available and often promoted as a solution to increase yields. However, the potential risks and disadvantages, such as dependency on seed companies and adverse health effects, were not adequately communicated.
